Friday Five

A day late, of course. I forgot about these until after I had posted yesterday. Remember, these weekly questions are found at the Friday Five site.
You have just won one million dollars.
- Whom do you call first?
Husband and kids come to mind first – but maybe it had better be my accountant! - What is the first thing you buy for yourself?
For myself – as opposed to giving it away to make myself feel good? I kept thinking of things…and then I realized I wasn’t getting at the core problem. I need a complete change of residence. Husband can come if he wants to, but if he doesn’t, I’m going anyhow. (You inherit him, U.D.!) Someplace where I don’t have to battle cold and snow, where I have room for my own things. A place that includes access to a swimming pool, I think, as a daily swim would alleviate a lot of other problems. Well, you said a million; I think we could do that. - What is the first thing you buy for someone else?
I would pay off the debts of my kids – within reason. (I can’t pay the full price of everyone’s condo, not even with a million dollars!) I’d buy a car for Sister, who has been driving the company van since her car was totaled. - Do you give any away? If yes, to whom?
To the synagogue, to public television, to my university, to numerous medical causes. That’s what we do. - Do you invest any? If so, how?
First thought, of course, is investment funds for all three kids. But on second thought, some kind of business that I could run myself; I’m not ready to retire completely. Books? To lend, to sell, to trade…and maybe to produce!
And with this, though it’s taken me two years, I conclude my three hundredth entry!
