Wednesday

What a strange day! I don’t work on Wednesdays. That is, I don’t go into the law office. On my “off” days I try to do those things I’d rather not do on the weekend. In any case, it was my day to be chauffeur, so I got up despite wanting to sleep in.

I did my morning stuff, got breakfast and looked at the paper, phoned M.D. Out by seven, back by eight. Goodbye to U.D., and I’m going online.

I didn’t stay on the computer long. I had an agenda for today…except I didn’t want to. I was terribly lethargic.

I managed to get a load of laundry started, and then I realized I was hungry. So I made lunch and forced myself to start out for Costco. I was sure that this was what I needed; I would get there and walk for an hour or so. And halfway through the store, my legs began to scream. This was ridiculous; I thought I was sore because I hadn’t gotten enough exercise. And then I realized, I hadn’t slept. Last night I woke up about two hours after I went to bed, and I never got back to sleep. No wonder I was worn out by one o’clock.

But I had to finish my errands, checked out of Costco and stopped by the pharmacy on the way home. I had food to carry upstairs to the freezer (good old cheesebox), and I still had to put clothes into the dryer.

I saw by my caller ID that my friend Gloria had been trying to reach me, so I got my phone and lay down to call back. Mostly I let her talk for an hour. I didn’t sleep, but at least I had enough strength to get the dry clothes upstairs, and do a few other “vital” things. I figured I would just watch “Enterprise” and go to bed, but my aunt Charlotte phoned. I’m sure the call would have been thirty per cent shorter if she didn’t tell me everything three times. She’s the youngest aunt, and now she’s losing it too. I’ve just about had it. I’m going to bed. I do have to go to the office tomorrow.
