I Think There's a Moral Here

Tue., March 18, 08:36 AM

I hesitate to write this indirect sort of story, because there’s always someone who takes it the wrong way, but maybe that’s what it’s about.

Some years ago, several women were visiting my sister and me, including a young woman who had just been told she was going to have a baby.

My brother-in-law joined us just as I asked “when are you due?” He was outraged, but I didn’t find out why until after the guests had departed.

Having missed the announcement that the young woman was pregnant, he assumed that I was trying to embarrass him about being overweight.

The moral: Don’t assume; it’s not always about you! (Although, I suppose, if you yell loud enough, you might convince some people that it is about you…whatever…)
