Teaching Children - My Way

Many years ago, when someone in the neighborhood was pregnant, my little boy asked me where babies come from. He was around five years old, but I believe in telling kids the truth, to the extent that they can understand it.
So I told him that babies grow from a seed in the mother's belly. (That's true.) "How does the seed get in there?" "A girl is born with all the seeds she'll ever need." (Simplistic, but basically it's still true.)
And he asked me, "Were you born with only three?" That was a logical question, I never thought of it. When I stopped laughing, I told him I throw away a lot of them.
He pondered that for a while, and then he said, "I guess my sisters and I were lucky to be born."
Out of the mouths of babes.
