Liberal
Where do you fall on the liberal - conservative political spectrum? (United States)

Well, you weren’t surprised, were you? Although my opinions vary a great deal, on the average they do fall somewhere to the left of center. But I really wasn’t happy with this particular quiz. (Not mention that I hate red on black type.)

In too many surveys and quizzes, the true answer is “none of the above.” And that’s followed by “I need more information; can we discuss this?”

You’ve heard this before. Look at what I wrote about it’s gotta be this or that. Or maybe you’re more familiar with this quote: All generalities are inaccurate, including this one. And while we’re quoting, let’s not forget: “What if” in the past is fiction.

The ability to look at a question from all sides, not to mention the ability to say “I was wrong,” is a very positive quality in a leader. Unless, of course, you’re locked into your own position, in which case you may call it “flip-flop.”

One of the things you must keep in mind is that the best speaker or the best debater does not necessarily win the election. Adlai Stevenson, Richard Nixon in 1960, Al Gore in 2000. Ronald Reagan “won” debates with “there you go again.” Brett Somers used to call it “too bright for the room.”

What, me worry? The war is over and the economy is recovering.
