Liberation Day!

Fri., April 1, 01:05 PM

Well, sort of. Kind of fits in with the day.

U.D. is away for the weekend. So when I got up this morning – at the normal time – I didn’t have to worry about anyone but myself. I took my Fosamax® and, since I couldn’t eat for the next half hour, I just did stuff, like get the newspaper, feed the cat, start a (half) pot of coffee. Took a long hot luxurious shower, since no one else will be needing the hot water. By the time Husband made an appearance, I was feeling pretty good.

After I gave him his pills, I left him to do his own thing in the kitchen: turn on the coffee he set up yesterday, maybe have a bagel, whatever. He turns the radio so loud in the kitchen that I can hear it from all over the house, so I told him I was going to do computer for an hour. (It pleases him that I’ve not “spying” on him.)

So I caught up with the world and found a nice little surprise. I had forgotten that the third is a Sunday this month; we’ve got Husband’s social security payment already, directly deposited into the checking account. (Mine comes in the middle of the month.) That’s a load off my mind. And I got my comics fix; did anyone happen to notice a similarity between “Fox Trot” and “Get Fuzzy” today?

It’s not raining yet, but my body is yelling “weather, weather.” So I decided to go out while the going was good. First to the bank; I not only made my deposit, but I finally stopped in to change the withholding on my 401K. After all, I get double exemption from 2005 on; I might as well get to use the money now, instead of waiting till next tax time.

Then I went to the supermarket, mostly because I wanted an onion, though I managed to buy a little more than that. Supermarket includes walk. U.D. used a pedometer to calculate that, if you walk all the aisles of a Super Stop & Shop, even a smaller one like ours, you will actually cover a mile. I feel good getting all this done by myself.

Still, you may ask, why is today “Liberation Day”? Because it was warm enough for me to go out without my wig! I will still need it in the chilly office for a few weeks, but I can go out in public without my “hat.” Now I really believe it’s spring.
