Only a Thursday

Sat., June 4, 11:46 AM

It should have been just another Thursday. I had had a pretty busy week after having my Monday off – how I loved that! But I did have to work. I don’t see M.D. and Son-in-Law during the week, because they have a lo-o-ong workday, and my Son, of course, is in Boston, though he’ll be here Sunday.

Anyhow, on Thursday morning, I was trying to decide which of my precious Works in Progress was worth developing into a post, and I just turned on the computer to check my mail. Surprise, surprise! There were piles of birthday wishes, and it was only nine in the morning. They were in my e-mail, in my Guestbook, in my Comments, and in my notes. It was like a treasure hunt! The Purple Chai and Cosmic were among the first; they’ve been my buddies for quite some time now. But there were many others, including people I didn’t know. Like last year, M.D. had ratted me out. I was going to list everyone, and then I realized that some of these people usually protect their identities, and I don’t know them well enough to…publicize?... them. So instead, to all of you,

Thank you so much.
I’m reading a little slowly these days – a sign of age, you understand – but I will be by to read something from all the strangers who passed by. To my regulars, like Chocolate Chaos, President Christopher, Yvonne, Marn, Doug, and Chloroform (whom I’d lost track of since she got her own domain), you probably have heard me say how much I appreciate your friendship and your journals. But I’ll say it again, I love my buddies.

U.D. bought me my favorite soup – hot and sour seafood – from an Asian restaurant in town. (Yes, Royal is my favorite, but we’re too far for delivery, and her hands are still too painful for extended driving.) And she got me new earrings, courtesy of my friend, Katie D. If we can get the face and the camera available at the same time and if I can remember how to upload a picture, you may even get to see them. They’re blue. But I make no promises.

From BOXX9000 (with whom I “had lunch” that day), I found the following quiz.

Your Expression Number is 7
Very intelligent, you are usually thinking, introspecting, or analyzing.
You have a good mind, and you are especially good at finding out the truth.
Very little ever escapes your observation and deep understanding.

You tend to obsess over wisdom and hidden truths.
You are likely to become a authority on any subject you undertake.
Operating on a different wavelength, most people don't know you that well.

Very logical and rational, at times you tend to lack emotion.
So much so, that you often have times coping with emotional situations.
You are not very adaptable - you may tend to be overly critical at times.

What's Your Expression Number?

That’s rather eerie. I know that my name will turn up sevens, but seven is not my lucky number. My numbers (I get two because I’m a Gemini) are six and eight, and have been so for the last three or four decades. Except for the misunderstanding about emotion, it’s very close indeed.
