Looking at Jewelry
Sat., September 24, 12:44 PM
Well, after I searched on the web to find a chai that looked something like mine, U.D. says “why didn’t you tell me you wanted a picture? I would have taken a photo…” So she did take a picture for me, and here it is.

That is much better than the picture I had.
As long as she had the camera out, she took a shot of my birthday earring (yes, it has a mate on the other
side), only about three months late. These were made by my buddy Katie Doyle, whose creations can be seen here. Not only are they pretty, they are blue.
“The trouble with you,” says U.D., “is that you don’t want junk.” That’s not quite right; I don’t want junk any more. There was a time when a cheap pair of earrings was just what I wanted – something to complement a particular outfit as to color or the pattern on a print. It was part of my personal style to find a plastic pin or painted earrings to go with a specific outfit. If they broke or got lost, well, they didn’t cost much. Incidentally, a single earring often can be worn as a pin or a tie-tack.
When I buy jewelry now, I look for gold or pearls – very sedate. Well, I do have a pair of blue pearls. One pair of cubic zirconium earrings. Meanwhile, I have lots of stuff I’ll never wear again. It's what you find when you start trying to clean stuff out.
As I go through my old things, I keep finding earrings that I can’t wear any more. The long ones hit my shoulders now. Some of the others are inappropriate with what I wear these days, particularly since Bosslawyer is a jeans kind of guy. There are at least half a dozen pairs of earrings that I will never wear again, nor will my daughters nor my niece. I’d love to give them away. Is anyone interested?
