Drying Out
Tue., October 18, 10:33 PM
By Saturday it stopped raining. Fortunately, our area stayed relatively dry; the water in the salt marsh stayed in the marsh. My cellar stayed dry. And my mind went elsewhere. Just a little silliness to tide us over. (“tide” – snicker, snicker.)
Consider the following:
- I am a woman in my sixties.
- I am fairly well educated, not just because I have a college degree and other formal education, but also because I read all kinds of things and because I have spent almost fifty years in the business world.
- Both from instinct and training, I am a thoughtful and logical analyst.
- I am an honest woman of deep integrity.
- Although I don't usually shout it to the world, I am a religious woman who believes in a Higher Being.
- I have experience working in a law office – I am sure Bosslawyer would give me a fine reference – but I have never been a judge.
I should also add, perhaps, that my health is pretty good for a woman of my years. Having just passed (1) a general physical; (2) a gynecological physical; and (3) my regular mammogram, I’m almost getting smug. It hardly seems worth complaining about a few aches and pains.
So… waddya think? Should I send a résumé to the Supreme Court??
