A Meme for August
Wed., August 9, 11:06 AM
This meme is well-traveled, I think, but I found this version with Kitchen Logic. I do these things to remind myself that it wasn’t as boring as all that…and because I love to write code and pretend that I’m a programmer.
FOUR THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME:
Four jobs I have had in my life: This is hard for me, because I’ve written about most of my jobs already – usually in detail.
- Database builder for the Christmas Seals association. (It was so long ago that we didn’t even know the word database!)
- Kitchen assistant in a college dorm.
- Typist in the Mathematics Office. (I typed math exams, among other things.)
- Proofreader. I’ve always done it as part of anything else I was doing, but I may as well mention – once more – the book I worked on most recently. Home
Four movies I would watch over and over:
- A League of Their Own
- Somewhere in Time
- My Fair Lady (or any good musical)
- Field of Dreams
Four places you have lived: If you read many of my posts, you’ll know I can list the individual buildings on my fingers. But the cities…
- Stamford, Connecticut
- Storrs, Connecticut
- New York, New York
- New Haven, Connecticut
Four TV shows you love to watch:
- CSI – all of them, but especially Las Vegas
- NUMB3RS
- Match Game or Password (old versions on the Game Show Network)
- Eureka (new on the SciFi channel)
Four places you have been on vacation:
- Los Angeles and San Francisco, California
- St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands (a week for us and families, courtesy of my employer)
- London, England
- Portland, Oregon
Four of my favorite foods:
- Ice cream, of course
- Eggplant, Romanian style
- Broiled beef, especially a good steak
- Stir-fried vegetables
Four songs that remind me of summer: Four? The radio was on all the time! And my dad sang. Not to mention that I brought a collection of lyrics whenever our gang had a party. I’ll tell you about one.
When we were in high school, we spent a lot of summer days on a boat that belonged to the family of my friend A. Whenever I hear “Hey There,” from the “Pajama Game,” I remember sitting on the deck with my friend Michael, working on the duet. I don’t know what happened to Michael; his name is too common to search for him.
Four places I would rather be right now: (Almost anywhere, right?)
- London
- New York
- San Francisco
- The international space station
