In view of all the messages of support I received, it seems fitting that I let you know: Husband is home from the hospital, a mere seven days since we drove him to the ER. Oh, yes, he's weaker than he was. This time they sent him home with oxygen and special inhalers to do what they can for the lung cells damaged by sixty years of cigarette smoking. I can't fix his eighty-year-old lungs, but if I can convince even one young person to kick the habit (or better yet, not to start), I will feel that I have performed a service.
As for me, the cataract surgery went well. No pain or anything in my eye, just a patch that, among other things, prevents me from putting on my glasses to use the other eye. (Blind in one eye, can't see with the other. Uh huh.) So again, I need to thank you for your good wishes. Remember… I'll be back.
