Pavarotti

Somewhere, in a purse I don't use too often these days, there is an unusual photo. The picture was shot in London, where I posed with the great Luciano Pavarotti. Gracious as ever, Pavarotti looks as if he is about to burst into song. So do I; my arms are outstretched and my mouth is open. I should confess — it was taken at Madame Tussaud's. He is perfect — in wax.
The musical world is mourning, and my local radio station, which usually doesn't usually play operatic music, aired a lot of Pavarotti this morning. If “Music of Your Life” plays any Pavarotti at all — maybe his lovely version of “Volare” — it won' be this week. I love local radio. It is so flexible and timely.
As Loretta Lynn once remarked, Luciano sure did “sing purty.”
