I'll Never Forget February 13
Thu., February 14, 01:46 PM
Women’s college basketball has just been sponsoring “Think Pink” Week. But I looked at the calendar yesterday, and the date hit me in the face. Four years ago (it was Friday the 13th), the surgeon removed that lump. I went back into my writing to see what, if anything, I had written about it.
The answer is, I wrote almost nothing at that time. My daughter had mentioned it, and I received lots of good wishes. I was and am still grateful for all of them and, as you can see, they were fruitful. I am fine. But the only specific I wrote was, “I still have two of everything; they just don’t match any more.” They still don’t, because I have a permanent tan from radiation.
It wasn’t until I had finished three months of chemotherapy and seven weeks of radiation that I was ready to share what had happened to me. There are three specific posts from that time.
With that on my mind and feeling quite grateful, I was surprised to receive the following e-mail. I did indeed forward it to friends, but I’m including it here as well. It’s very important, and it doesn’t cost you anything but a few seconds of your time.
I have a favor to ask, and it only takes a minute…
Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman.
It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on
“donating a mammogram” for free (pink window in the middle).
This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/ advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammograms in exchange for advertising.
Here’s the web site! Pass it along to people you know.
Send it to men too. They have wives, mothers, and sisters and, yes, men can get breast cancer too.
AGAIN , PLEASE TELL 10 FRIENDS TO TELL 10 TODAY.
Thank you, my friends. And don’t forget to schedule your own mammograms. You are special to someone, including me.
