Well, Did You Evah...?

Wed., February 4, 12:51 PM

Well, did you evah… This came to me via The Purple Chai. I feel as if I’ve answered some of these before, but others not, so I’ll go through again.

  1. Gone on a blind date? The last time was forty-one years ago this month. I married him.
  2. Skipped school? Not in the strictest sense, never without a parent’s permission.
  3. Watched someone die? No.
  4. Been to Canada? Once, more than fifty years ago; see Those Good Old Days?.
  5. Been to Mexico? Does a day in Tijuana count?
  6. Been on a plane? Yes, but I prefer trains.
  7. Been lost? Yes, but not for long. I am pretty good at finding myself.
  8. Been on the opposite side of the country? Yes, since I live in the Northeast. California is opposite; so is Florida.
  9. Swam in the ocean? I’ve always lived on Long Island Sound, which probably qualifies, but real ocean is more like off the coast of California, where I learned to body surf. (And no, I don’t think I still can do that!)
  10. Cried yourself to sleep? Once or twice, but I don’t make a habit of it.
  11. Played cops and robbers? Not that I remember.
  12. Recently colored with crayons? Not since my kids were little.
  13. Sang Karaoke? It’s not very likely. Now that there is finally a show called, “Do You Know the Lyrics?” they don’t play anything to which I do.
  14. Paid for a meal with coins only? Of course; when I was a teen, many meals cost less than a dollar.
  15. Done something you told yourself you wouldn’t many times? Oy — don’t ask.
  16. Made prank phone calls? No. The closest thing I can recall is trying to listen in on a party-line call. By the time we had a private line, the urge was gone.
  17. Laughed until some kind of beverage came out of your nose? No.
  18. Caught a snowflake on your tongue? Yes.
  19. Danced in the rain? No.
  20. Written a letter to Santa Claus? Remember, I knew from an early age that Santa Claus wasn’t real.
  21. Been kissed under the mistletoe? Yes, by someone dressed as Santa Claus. He was young enough to be my son.
  22. Watched the sunrise with someone you care about? Always alone.
  23. Blown bubbles? Yes, it was a talent that some of us had as kids. When I was a teen, I could also blow smoke rings.
  24. Gone ice-skating? The one time I tried, my ankles told me I was crazy and not to try again.
  25. Been skinny dipping outdoors? No, nor indoors either!
  26. Gone to the movies? Occasionally.
  27. Saved someone’s life? I’m fairly sure I saved Husband’s twice. Others? Maybe.

  1. Any nickname? Not really.
  2. Mother’s name? Her sisters called her Bee.
  3. Favorite drink? Depending on whether I feel warm or cold, diet Coke or coffee.
  4. Any tattoos? Certainly not!
  5. Body piercing? One in each earlobe.
  6. How much do you love your job? Why do you think I retired? The good job is long gone.
  7. Favorite vacation spot? What’s a vacation?
  8. Ever been to Africa? One more place I shall never see, except vicariously.
  9. Ever eaten cookies for dinner? Only with ice cream.
  10. Been on TV? Yes. When I was in college, our folk dancing group performed on local television. Years later, I did short interviews for the Red Cross and for United Way.
  11. Ever steal any traffic signs? Not I.
  12. Ever been in a car accident? Fender-benders, no injuries.
  13. Drive a 2-door or 4-door vehicle? Currently driving my daughter-in-law’s car, which is the first 2-door I’ve ever driven. Definitely takes getting used to.
  14. Favorite Salad Dressing? Some sort of spicy Italian.
  15. Favorite Pie? The ones I make myself.
  16. Favorite Number? 8.
  17. Favorite Movie? The first that comes to mind is “A League of Their Own.”
  18. Favorite Dessert? Ice cream.
  19. Favorite food? See previous answer.
  20. Favorite day of the week? They’re all the same when you’re retired.
  21. Favorite brand of body wash? I have never used a body wash that didn’t leave me itchy. I will use fragrance-free Dove® face soap.
  22. Favorite toothpaste? Generic.
  23. Favorite smell? Too numerous to list.
  24. What do you do to relax? Listen to television, as opposed to sitting and watching. It puts me to sleep.
  25. How do you see yourself in 10 years? I would be 78; considering my family history, would I even know?
  26. How many siblings do you have? Two.
  27. Furthest place you will send this message? I haven’t counted my readers in a long time. I don’t think it will go any further than my notify list.
  28. Who will respond to this the fastest? Nobody.
  29. Who is your favorite dog of all time? Go read about Inky. I think you will find that far more interesting.
